Golfing can sometimes seem like an expensive, time-consuming and demanding form of obsessive compulsive disorder.
In FORE! Roy Grimble, a high-handicap hacker, is unused to total failure. His problems begin when he picks up his golf iron, joins a new club and continues in his fruitless, relentless determination to master the game regardless of his ability.
He begins to wonder, could it be that this self-induced form of sado-masochism, which brings out the rogue competitive gene among more than a few of its devotees, is actually designed for pleasure? Then he learns from a philosophical fellow player, the art of how to relax and enjoy golf, and, as an added bonus, reduce his handicap.
In this hilarious novel, every golfer will recognise the elements of human behaviour and club politics that often accompany this universally popular game. And it has something for non-golfers as well, as a part of their education in the university of life.
